I was born & raised in Ontario where I spent my youth performing theatre sports and dreaming of becoming an astronaut. I had two pilots licences before I learned to drive, and I followed my love of aviation to university where I studied aerospace engineering.
While at university I found a really good study partner who turned out to be a really great husband. Together we've made two of the radest little people I know.
I've since left the world of aerospace to pursue more creative endeavours, but I still find myself looking up at the night sky in awe.
Me and my crew currently live in Vancouver BC, where we spend our winters skiing and our summers biking and hitting the beach.
I love to travel - if money were no object I'd travel for at least half-the-year. Thus far I have visited 28 countries on 5 continents - which I would qualify as a fair amount of travel. When I hit 50 countries on 7 continents, I'll consider myself well-traveled.
I was quite lucky in my younger years, as I had the opportunity to travel across Europe as part of my summer job. I then used the money I made at that job to fund a 2 month trip through Australia and New Zealand.
After graduation I did a 6-month volunteer placement with Engineers without Borders in Ghana, West Africa
Since entering the workforce and becoming a parent these trips have become less frequent and shorter in duration. But we recently did a big trip to Germany & Croatia with the kids - and we found out they are AWESOME travellers. So we are looking forward to more adventures in the coming years.
I've taken hundreds of photos during my travels, but only a handful of them evoke a sense of nostalgia when I look back on them. These are the photos I've shared here.
I have a wide variety of interests - I'd go as far to say that my favourite hobby is finding new hobbies. I'm definitely most fond of activities that allow me to create something tangible - be it sewing a garment or learning a new song. I love the gratification that comes from making something with my own two hands.
